Erotic Star Search

I was channel surfing last night on Austar and just happen to come across a show on Arena call Erotic Star Search. Just as i flicked to that channel they said "Next our competitors will Belly Dance for us". I immediately thought, Oh my God, What are they doing to our dance form when we are trying to educate people that belly dancing is not an Erotic form of dance. So i continued watching just to see what was going to happen next.

The contestants had had a crash course in belly dancing by the male dance instructor on the show and before they performed they were told that they would be judged on how they portray the genre of belly dance and would be marked down if their dance was to suggestive. I felt better after that knowing that Yes they had to belly dance not pole dance using belly dance moves and call it belly dance.

Before the girls performed they were treated to a little, this is how it's done by Sahara and her snake from Amera's Palace, plus they had to improvise to live drumming. We all know how difficult that can be when you aren't use to improvising let alone improvise to live drumming. Also Amera was on the judging panel, which I thought was great because at least I thought our dance form had a wonderful representative.

The contestants didn't find it easy, but one girl did really well and of course she was the one who one the challenge.
